Assessment of the Dp 2400

Editors note – Motorola appear that they are getting out 2 way radios like they are candy nowadays, the digital revolution has truly given Motorola a new market and it seems, as usual, pushing the boundaries of this radio marketplace. This modern 2 way radio the DP2400, is full fat digital and having used it for the few weeks it is very related size to numerous other of the modern two way radios, but with a different connection type. The form is similar to other current 2 way radios, but i think the cost will make an enormous difference to small businesses and individuals, anyway here is a incredibly rare review of that radio.

A 2 way radio has to be in a position to work swiftly and efficiently. It has to be simple to work with, robustly made and multi-faceted enough to appeal to many different people. Opportunely, Motorola are very excellent at fulfilling these standards. So, with that in mind, we put the Dp2400 through its paces.

THE SPECS

The clarity of digital audio is undeniable. But if you continue to prefer analogue, then do not despair. The DP 2400 is totally at ease handling both analogue and digital signals.

But there’s much more it is able to do besides that.

The Dp2400 can even use its ‘IP Site Connect’ function to increase the aptitude of the radio via the Internet. Additionally, the ‘capacity plus’ function can use a single-site trunking system to enable over a thousand voice or data transfer-users without adding any new frequencies. It can even use an (optional) ‘linked capacity plus’ feature (a multi-site version of the ‘capacity plus’ function) that works in tandem using the IP functionality to ensure even broader fields of communication over greater areas.

There’s even an enhanced security function.

The Motorola DP 2400 also comes in both VHF and UHF types.

THE PRICE

It is a reasonable, yet high spec, device. Considering the release of that DP3400, we can reasonably expect the price to drop a bit more as well soon, but probably not by an implausible amount, as both models do seems to concentrate on slightly different niches’.

Overall, it does appear to be Motorola are offering a fantastic radio-based product for your money, yet again.

THE PERFORMANCE

The look is hardy and utilitarian; this will be the type of radio a security guard or professional soldier might use. Its tough, square edged and no-nonsense, however it still looks contemporary and specialist. Over this, the Dp2400’s easy use makes the simplicity of that design an ideal marriage of model and operation.

As with the majority of Motorola’s radios, the Motorola dp2400 is a robust little doohickey. The bodywork is so tightly sealed, in reality, that it’s almost completely dust and sand proof and has a water protection rating of IP55 (meaning you can use it while in the rain, but you most likely can’t take it swimming).

The audio performance of the Motorola dp2400 is nothing short of wonderful. It even adjusts the levels to compensate for background noise automatically, much like the iphone.

Actually, so high performance is this walkie talkie, that it actually meets US military standard 810 C D E F and G.

A common negative we could find was that the look was slightly bulky and also the battery was a little heavy, however, the battery life is so good that we really don’t mind. Besides, it’s reassuring to be totally sure that you are not going to lose the radio (you would soon notice if you dropped it).

As an optional extra, you can even obtain a function that will interrupt an existing signal in order to deliver critical information without waiting for a communication finish.

THE VERDICT

It really does seem as if Motorola have considered the lot for this radio. What we’ve got here is a radio that is pretty close to perfection. It appears to do anything you could probably want it to and, when ‘pimped out’ with all the added extras, it will surely do a lot more in addition.

There are not actually any downsides with this radio, it works extremely well, is pretty much top of the line in its price range and is bang up to date mechanically. What more can you ask for?
